2nd Annual Washington College Piano Festival

The 2nd annual Washington College Piano Festival invites high school and college piano students to further develop their talents in an immersive educational experience. On Saturday, April 20th, students will have the opportunity to compete in a piano competition, take campus tours, attend workshops, and perform in a student concert and a master class taught by guest artist Yong Hi Moon, Professor of Piano at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. Professor Moon will also be performing a solo concert in the evening as part of the Washington College Premier Artists Series.

Participation is FREE after a $25 application fee. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to visit Washington College, meet fellow pianists, learn about career opportunities, and perform in Hotchkiss Recital Hall! Families are welcome.

Teaching University of Delaware piano studio and Governor’s School

In July, Matthew will be teaching gifted high school piano students at the Governor’s School for Excellence at the University of Delaware. This fall, in addition to teaching at Washington College, he is also excited to be teaching the talented piano studio at the University of Delaware, filling in for Professor Christine Delbeau during her sabbatical.

China Tour with 6-wire and the University of Delaware orchestra

Matthew just returned from a 12-day tour of China with 6-wire and the University of Delaware orchestra, performing in major concert halls in Beijing, Xi’an, Wuxi, and Shanghai. He enjoyed experiencing China’s rich culture and collaborating with Chinese musicians at the Shanghai Oriental Arts Center.

Matthew and his colleague Woobin Park are launching the first Washington College Piano Festival! On April 21st, students will have the opportunity to compete in a piano competition, take campus tours, attend workshops, perform in a student concert and a master class taught by guest artist Lydia Artymiw, Professor of Piano at the University of Minnesota. Professor Artymiw will also be performing a solo concert in the evening as part of the Washington College Premier Artists Series.

High school students and college students are encouraged to apply for this program. Participation is FREE after a $25 application fee. 6-wire performs for Vice President Joe Biden for the second time!

On November 10, the 6-wire World Music Band performed for Vice President Joe Biden at the University of Delaware’s Delaware First fundraising campaign, which has already raised $565 million. 6-wire performed a piece from its “Conflict Connections” project promoting diversity and inclusion, which the former VP personally told the group are the qualities that make the United States a model nation for the rest of the world.
